When you consider that you'll not only be driving around with your caravan, but also sleeping in it, it makes sense to put a thorough maintenance schedule together. Spend some time taking care of your new or used caravan, and it will take care of you.
Where to start? Well since it's also a vehicle you should maintain it the same way you would your car or truck. Check the oil on a regular basis and keep an eye on how the engine is working. You might end up in a remote area so you don't want it to fail when you need it most. Also take a note of each time the caravan gets a service either by you or by a professional.
In addition to frequent oil checks you should also ensure that the tires are rotated every five to seven thousand miles. This will give your tires a longer life span and help reduce the risk them going flat.
This might seem like common sense, but keep the caravan clean. In particular you should give it an extensive wash and clean after every trip you take. It will remove anything nasty that might be lingering on or underneath the caravan or motor home. Also clean out the inside of the caravan and dispose of any rubbish like old food containers.
